Qualche settimana fa mi è arrivata una commissione per un paio di orecchini. Con questa persona abbiamo buttato giù qualche idea, per poi concordare su due forme principale: fiori e gocce. Abbiamo felicemente stabilito che dovevano essere semplici, senza troppi fronzoli o penzolamenti. L'accordo era quello di portare a termine entrambe le idee, così lei avrebbe scelto quelli che più le sarebbero piaciuti ed io avrei comunque fatto esperienza con tecniche diverse. Spesso, quando mi viene richiesto di realizzare un accessorio, mi immetto in una specie di sfida con me stessa perchè non sempre la tipologia di gioiello che ho in mente e che voglio realizzare coincide con l'idea nata da una persona esterna. Questo non significa che non apprezzo questo tipo di richieste o gusti diversi, anzi è molto piacevole materializzare il progetto di qualcun altro. Ma semplicemente mi sento un po' più in difficoltà rispetto al solito nel realizzarli; è qui che la sfida ha inizio, perchè non mi tiro indietro ma anzi, qualcosa mi spinge ad andare oltre questo mio limite e a mettere mano comunque a un oggetto dal design differente dal mio solito. A few weeks ago I received a commission for a pair of earrings. With this person we brainstormed some ideas, and then we agree on two main forms: flowers and drops. We have successfully established that they had to be simple, without too many frills or dangles. The agreement was to carry out both ideas, so she would have chosen the ones that she liked and I had experience with different techniques. Often, when someone asked me to create an accessory I enter into a sort of challenge to myself because it's not always the type of jewelry that I have in mind and that which I want to realize accomplish with the idea came from an outside person. This does not mean that I do not appreciate this type of request or different tastes, so it's very nice to materialize the project of someone else. But I just feel a little more trouble than usual in achieving them. This is where the challenge begins, because I do not shoot back, but rather, something pushes me to go beyond this limit and put my hand in any case to a design object different from my usual. Questo discorso mi ricorda un po' una riflessione inerente ai mercatini che facevamo io e Lucia, di cui vi consiglio di visitare il blog lucicuce e la pagina facebook perchè lei è davvero molto molto brava e fa cose originalissime (verificato dal vivo ;-) ), in cui parlavamo di un limite da non valicare (o sì?), e che vi riassumo con una domanda: creare ciò che piace a noi ed essere felici nonostante i probabili minori apprezzamenti o creare ciò che sicuramente piace di più agli altri ed essere meno soddisfatte di ciò che si propone? Ok è un po' contorta, ma so per certo che chi ha a che fare con la vendita di ciò che realizza capirà. Noi siamo per la prima, e voi? Fatemi sapere :-)

Ok it's a bit twisted, but I know that those who have to do with the sale of what they produces will understand. We are for the first, and you? Let me know :-)
